Important roadwork information - A12 northbound junction 28 to 29 – resurfacing
National Highways plan to carry out resurfacing work on the A12 northbound between junctions 28 and 29. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer and better-defined road surface. We plan to complete this work over three nights starting on Monday 1 December 2025. We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A12 northbound between junctions 28 and 29, and divert traffic as follows:
· Traffic travelling on the A12 northbound will need to leave at junction 28 and be diverted southbound to junction 26
· Join the A1124 London Road, A1124 Lexden Road and A1124 Southway
· Join the A134 Southway, A134 Magdalen Street, A134 Barrack Street, Hythe Hill, A134 Madlyn Road, Hythe Quay, Colne Causeway and Eastern Approach
· Join the A133 onto St Andrews Avenue
· A1232 Ipswich Road and rejoin the A12 or A120.
