A12 Birchwood Road junction - maintenance work
Essential resurfacing work and signage replacement will take place at the Birchwood Road junction off the A12. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a smoother, better-defined road surface and clear signage.
The first phase of our work to replace the signage will take place over 3 nights between Thursday 20 October and Monday 24 October. We will work overnight between 8pm to 6am on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting.
The second phase of our work to complete the resurfacing and road markings will happen at a later date. Exact dates will be communicated nearer the time.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close part of Birchwood Road and divert traffic as detailed below:
A12 exit onto Birchwood Road diversion
- Traffic wishing to exit the A12 onto Birchwood Road will continue southbound on the A12 towards Crown Interchange, exit and return northbound on the A12 to exit at Park Lane and follow Wick Road before joining Birchwood Road.
A12 entry from Birchwood Road diversion
- Traffic wishing to join the A12 southbound will stay on Birchwood Road to follow Wick Road and Park Lane before joining the A12 northbound, exit at the next junction (Ipswich Road) then re-join the A12 southbound.
